BIOS PC Settings
Q: Is it possible to start the PC and the NEC DIGITAL SIGNAGE
SOFTWARE automatically, e.g. when either loading light or the power supply is turned
on?
A: Yes that is possible. It may be that case that in order to do
this you either have to turn on or expand the BIOS settings of your NEC DIGITAL
SIGNAGE SOFTWARE Player PC. Here you will find some questions and answers concerning
the subject of BIOS Settings for operation.
BIOS technical settings are outside the setting possibilities
of the NEC DIGITAL SIGNAGE SOFTWARE. BIOS settings can only be de described
to a certain degree because the manufacturer is not aware of all BIOS versions the
end customers’ processors is equipped with. Here are some general tips and
advice.
Q: Why does the Player PC not start automatically with the power
supply?
A: Check the BIOS settings of your PC. Connect a mouse and a keyboard
to the PC and restart. While starting, follow the instructions to access the BIOS
setup of your PC (e.g. by hitting Esc / F8 / Del). The BIOS or Setup of the PC will
appear after a few seconds. In most BIOS versions you will find the menu item “Power
Management”. There you should find the setting Power Resume /Power On. Adjust
this in such a way that the PC automatically starts with power supply. If this BIOS
function is active, the PC will start automatically with power supply.
Q: The PC starts, but the Windows Desktop does not appear. There
are beeping noises.
A: Ensure that a mouse and a keyboard are connected to the system.
Many BIOS interpret this as an error, but this usually can be adjusted. Connect
a mouse and a keyboard to the PC and restart. While starting, follow the instructions
to access the BIOS setup of your PC (e.g. by hitting Esc / F8 / Del). The BIOS or
Setup of the PC will appear after a few seconds. Check the BIOS of your PC. The
BIOS setting “hold on errors” should be changed to “No halt on
all errors”. The advantage of this is that it is not necessary to connect
a mouse or keyboard to the PC. Should you not be able to adjust the setting accordingly,
a mouse and a keyboard need to stay connected to the PC.
